Resveratrol Increases Energy and Performance

Studies Say Resveratrol Enhances Physical Performance

Research performed on Resveratrol continues to find new benefits to its use.

Early research from France at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology initially found that Resveratrol prolonged the lifespan of test animals by up to thirty percent, while protecting them from certain degenerative diseases and inhibiting obesity.

Further studies also indicated that Resveratrol contributed to an increase in performance energy and endurance.

Resveratrol Improves Physical Performance

Leading the study, Dr. Auwerx found that lab mice given a small dose of Resveratrol were able to run twice a far as the control group of mice which were given no doses at all. Normal mice will collapse from exhaustion after running a single kilometer, whereas mice enhanced with Resveratrol were able to run the same distance with no signs of exhaustion at all.

Like professionally trained athletes, the Resveratrol mice also maintained a lower heart rate while performing at twice the rate of their un-enhanced counterparts.

According to Dr. Auwerx,

“Resveratrol makes you look like a trained athlete without the training.”

Dr. Auwerx seems to be reaching a bit with that one, but the proof is in the study.

Performance Study Results

Studies concluded that these profound results were due to the measurable increase in the number of mitochondria in the muscle cells of the Resveratrol enhanced mice.

Mitochondria is a membrane-enclosed organelle found in most eukaryotic cells and is responsible for generating energy within the body. The increase in mitochondria is what allowed the Resveratrol mice to burn additional fat and thus prevent weight gain.

As a result, according to Dr. Auwerx, this also lowered insulin sensitivity as well as restructured the muscle fibers in the lab mice into a form similar to professional athletes.

A Positive Second Opinion

Dr. Ronald M. Evans, a leading expert on the hormonal control of metabolism at the Salk Institute, confirmed that the findings made by Dr. Auwerx and his team had “shown very convincingly that Resveratrol improves mitochondrial function,” thus providing the body with more energy while fending off metabolic disease.

Performance Results Supported by a Human Study

Although a Resveratrol study using a group Finnish subjects seems to support these findings, increasing the metabolism of ordinary people to that of professional athletes requires additional research to confirm the proper dosage levels for humans. These levels still need to be determined before further testing can continue.

One thing does remain clear, Resveratrol Select with high levels of Resveratrol, Chromium, and Green Tea (contains caffeine), will certainly provide that kick start of energy to get you through the day.
